Canton Flannel Wheel

Use in the final stage of buffing to colour very thin plated surfaces.

Canton Flannel is very soft, and this wheel is loosely stitched, so the layers of cloth flare out to give a wide angle ultra smooth polishing surface.

Generally used with the BLUE or RED compound, this wheel can be used on the most delicate items such as silver and gold plate.

This wheel should not be contaminated with any other compound.

Loose Cotton Wheel

Gets into cracks and crevices better than Spiral Sewn Cotton Wheels.
The main purpose of a loose cotton wheel is to polish and cut in a similar manner to the Spiral sewn wheel, except that this wheel, not being tightly stitched together, will ‘mush’ or collapse, allowing the cotton to get into awkward places more easily. If you have an object with fine details and awkward crevices, then this is the wheel to use.
Because you will be unable to exert pressure which slows down other harder wheels, you should consider putting LARGER loose cotton wheels on your buffer. This will increase the surface speed, improving the overall finish and the time involved.

Check out the Standard wheel and compound buffing guide for more information on Standard compounds and buffing wheels

For example, on a 1/4hp motor, @ 3450rpm, you can safely put up an 8″ wheel x 1/4″ thick. On a 1/3rd hp motor, 10″ x 1/2″ thick, on 1/2hp motor 8″ x 1″ thick.

3/4 hp motor can carry several 12″ wheels.

Use with any compound.

SCRUBBER WHEELS

Scrubber wheels remove rust, scratches, minor blemishes, old paint, and plating. A featherlite touch is required with these wheels, unlike an ordinary buffing wheel. Heavy pressure will result in premature wear of the wheel.

The blisters found in chrome, particularly on pot metal, can be flattened with this wheel. Substrates take a flat satin finish, which should be buffed with emery and a sisal wheel, followed by white or brown compound on a cotton wheel. This wheel has a 3/4″ hole

VENTED BUFFING WHEELS

The folded pleats hold more compound and
keep the part cooler, resulting in a being twice
as fast as a Spiral Sewn wheel. 10” wheels require
3” washers. These wheels are softer than
their yellow cousins.

SPIRAL SEWN WHEELS

Spiral sewn wheels are the workhorse of most buffing and polishing jobs. Because the plies of cotton cloth are sewn together spirally, the
wheel becomes much harder and more pressure can be exerted on it. This is especially useful when ‘cutting’ the metal. The faces of these
wheels are pre-raked to accept compound immediately

HIGH COLOR COMPOUND D-38

NON-FERROUS COLORING BAR COMPOUND. Sometimes referred to as White or Black Diamond Buffing Compound.
Intended for buffing non-ferrous metals where the work surface is in good condition, free of deep tool or die marks. When heavy marks are present, Tripoli Buffing Compound is generally used to first cut down the surface and then a second buffing operation is performed using a “Coloring” Compound to produce a mirror-bright finish.
An extra dry grade developed for “coloring out” operations on brass and sheet aluminum. Its light cutting action minimizes the danger of cutting too aggressively on the metal. Also recommended on recessed or indented surfaces that ordinarily would pack up with a greasier grade, giving difficult cleaning problems. Leaves a clear bright finish, free of dirt.

Grade D-38
Diamond Buffing Compound.

FAST CUT SS COMPOUND #19

“FAST CUT” STAINLESS STEEL COMPOUND (Medium Greasy)
For Stainless or Cold Rolled Steel.

Stainless Compound is made of “alumina” and grease binders. Developed for use on stainless steel, its fast cutting and good coloring properties are also a favorite for buffing all types of steel.

To remove sanding scratches from stainless, start out using a sisal buffing wheel with the Super Sisal Compound #F515-6154. You can then work your way up to a spiral sewn cotton buff using the All Purpose Stainless Compound, F-515-6147.

For a final high luster finish, use a loose cotton buffing wheel or canton flannel buff with the F515-6113 White Lightning Rouge.

“FAST CUT” STAINLESS STEEL COMPOUND (MEDIUM GREASY)
Very similar to “Excello” but, being slightly greasier, it produces a faster cutting action. Used extensively on automatic buffing machines.
Grade #19. 2″ x 2″ x 10″ Bar.
